25 Breakfast Ideas for Kids This Summer

I don't know about you, but I have had a few mornings this summer when I just wanted to think of something different to feed the kids for breakfast.  We make a lot of plans for supper, but not breakfast.  And, of course, I have me some picky eaters.  So, I came up with a list of different options to choose from.

1.  Sausage Gravy and Biscuits-  My kids all time favorite
2.  Pancakes and Bacon-From scratch or if you're in a hurry, from a box and microwaveable pre-cooked bacon
3.  Blueberry Muffins-  From scratch or from a box ( I get the kind with the crumb topping)
4.  French Toast and Sausage-  I always try to plan for the French Toast when I am at the end of a loaf of bread.
5.  Bacon and Egg Sandwiches
6.  Pumpkin Bread-  From scratch or from a box
7.  Breakfast Casserole-  Lots of great recipes on Pinterest
8.  Gingerbread Sprinkled with Powdered Sugar- Again, you can make it from scratch or if you are in a hurry, it also comes in a box.
9.  Omelets-  With sausage or bacon, eggs and cheese
10.  Zucchini Bread-  If you are like us and have a garden, you should be looking for different recipes to use all of the zucchini and squash you will be having any day now.
11.  Pumpkin Muffins- I use the awesome 2 ingredient recipe from Pinterest, a box of spice cake mixed with a can of pumpkin sprinkled with some cinnamon sugar.
12.  Cinnamon Streusel Cake- Again, from a recipe or box
13.  Egg and Toast Cups- Recipe on Pinterest
14.  Biscuit of Choice-  Sausage, Bacon, Egg, Cheese, Etc.
15.  Breakfast Burritos-  Recipes on Family Fun
16.  Waffles with Bacon or Sausage
17.  Banana Bread-  With or Without Nuts  (I usually use this when I have overripe bananas)
18.  Blueberry Pancakes
19.  Cinnamon Rolls-  Recipes on Pinterest or the refrigerated ones if in a hurry.
20.  French Toast Casserole- Delicious!  Recipes on Pinterest, some of them you have to make the night before.
21.  Applesauce Cake
22.  Flavored Oatmeal-  With or without fruit and nuts
23.  Bacon and Egg Breakfast Pizza
24.  Breakfast Bake-  Recipe on Kraft Recipes
25.  And, when all else fails, any Cold Cereal or Frozen Waffle, etc.

Hope you enjoy!

Patriotic Bunting Frame

Do you remember my Easter Bunting Frame?  If not, you can find it here.  Well, when I decided to decorate the mantel for the 4th, I thought about it.  So I said, why not just make it an interchangable frame for different holidays.  So I removed and saved the Easter bunting and made a new one for the 4th of July with scrapbook paper and jute.  Hope you enjoy!

4th of July Bunting

Hello, Hello!!  I made this simple 4th of July bunting using old t-shirts and jute.  I can't bring myself to even throw away old t-shirts with stains.  So I decided to repurpose them by using pieces to make other things.  Since the 4th is coming up, I got a red, a white and a blue one.  I printed off a pennant template and cut out the pieces to alternate red, white, then blue.  I hot glued them to jute string.  I'm going to hang it from the mantel.  I think it turned out cute.  I hope you like it too:)

Campus Book Rentals Review

I want to share a great money saving tip with you today that I recently found out about.  Did you know that you can actually RENT your college textbooks??  I really wish I knew that when I was in college!

Campus Book Rentals is a textbook rental company founded in August 2007 which offers excellent customer service and reliability with live customer support.  Some of the many fabulous perks for choosing to rent your college textbooks through
Campus Book Rentals  instead of buying them are:
  • 40-90% Savings off bookstore prices
  • Free Shipping both ways
  • Flexible renting periods
  • 30 day risk free trial period (In case you end up dropping the class)
  • One of the largest textbook selections in the nation
  • Refer a friend program for additional savings
  • Scholarship programs

And, most of all, the best part about choosing Campus Book Rentals for all of your textbook needs, is their partnership with Operation Smile.  If you don't know about Operation Smile, it is an amazing organization that performs cleft lip surgeries on children who may not otherwise be able to have these life changing surgeries to improve their quality of life.

So, if you are, have a, or know an upcoming college student, you should really consider Campus Book Rentals.  I know that when the time comes for my four children to start college I will be!

Check them out for yourself!

Old Nightgown Upcycle

Finally, after months of neglect, I got my 2 youngest daughter's room cleaned up and organized.  I wanted to add a quick new touch to the room, so I came up with a new piece of art using an old nightgown, transparancy, and cupcake liner flower.

I loved the dainty flowers on this old nightgown, so I didn't want to just throw it away. If you can't tell, it is a light pink material with darker pink cute little flowers on it.  I thought it would look cute in the girl's room.

First, I cut out a piece of cardboard and cut out a piece of the nightgown to hot glue it to cover it.  Next, I used a transparancy page that I used to paint a tree limb on the girl's wall.  After I put all that in the frame, I knew it needed a little something extra.

After the little one got in my cabinet and helped herself to the cupcake liners and I found them lying on the living room floor, I almost threw them all away.  Luckily, I thought that I could use them for something.  So, I put together a little cupcake liner flower and hot glued it to the bottom right corner of the frame to add a little extra touch.

I think it turned out cute, considering the fact that I didn't spend any money at all and have a new piece of art for their room.
