Tween Girls Room

My 9 year old daughter exchanged her old, bigger bedroom with her younger sisters to our smallest bedroom.  She said that way she wouldn't have as much to clean.  Smart girl!

Now, this girl is all about sports.  She is not a "girly girl" at all.  So I had to figure out something that she would like that wasn't too "girly."  The first time I showed her these colors together, she liked it so I ran with it and went with the blacks and whites with the sea blue.

This is an antique desk that was my great grandmother's.  I am not satisfied with it though so there is still work to do on it.

I found this antique pedestal stand at an annual antique festival nearby.  It worked out great to be a small stand for her lamp and it doesn't take up much space at all.

I used a lot of storage bins and baskets, etc. throughout the room to put swimsuits, DS games, toys, pajamas and other odds and ends.

The bed is also an antique iron bed that was my grandmother's.

I know, it's not a good picture.  I used oil rubbed bronze spray paint on a small chandelier.

And you know this girl's gotta have her over the door basketball goal in her new room.

And, yes, that picture on the wall, that's my GIRL on a touchdown run when she played on a little league team which she was the only girl on.

  9. I love it! The aqua is gorgeous and I love the way you snuck in the black and white. I was a tomboy myself and now you'd never know it. She will treasure the picture of her running for that touchdown. Don't hever let her get rid of it. Thanks so much for sharing at Whimsy Wednesdays.
